RHODOCHROSITE is very soft stone that is easily breakable. Because of the difficulty in carving it, jewellery, bowls and statues made from it are valuable. The white bands within the crystal come from when the stone forms as a stalactite. The stones name comes from the Greek word for ‘rose coloured' the Incas referred to it as Inca Rose.
